Cherry Blossom Tattoo

While the cherry fruit fly was a symbol used to represent the samurai warrior caste of the shogun era in Japan, it is the flowering of a tree, the original Japanese and prominently in Japanese tattoo art. The short and beautiful time of flowering and the rapid fading and subsequent scattering of petals in the wind symbolize the fragility of human existence and the perfect death by indifference to the world marks left behind.

Together with its association with purity, it was the ultimate symbol of bushido, the warrior code. The ideal SAMURAI, a combination of warrior and sometime poet or artist, always willing to meet his death, always grateful for the fleeting moment.
